For Under/Graduate Students and Nursing Leader Candidates
 

The purposes of Sigma Theta Tau International are:

  1. Recognize superior achievement.
  2. Recognize the development of leadership qualities.
  3. Foster high professional standards.
  4. Encourage creative work.
  5. Strengthen commitment to the ideals and purposes of the profession.
 
MEMBERSHIP CRITERIA:

Undergraduate Students must: have completed 1/2 of the nursing curriculum; have at least a GPA of 3.0 (based on a 4.0 grading scale); rank in the upper 35 percentile of the graduating class; meet the expectation of academic integrity.

Registered Nurse Students (Bridge) must: have completed 12 credit hours at current school; have completed ½ of the nursing curriculum; have at least a GPA of 3.0 (based on a 4.0 grading scale); rank in the upper 35 percentile of graduating class; meet the expectation of academic integrity.

Graduate Students (Master's and Doctorate) must: have completed 1/4 of the nursing curriculum; have at least a GPA of 3.5 (based on a 4.0 grading scale); meet the expectation of academic integrity.

Nurse Leader Candidates must: be legally recognized to practice nursing in his/her country; minimum of a baccalaureate degree or the equivalent in any field; demonstrated achievement in nursing.

Under the provisions of the "Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974," I grant access to my academic record to the Chapter Eligibility Committee chairperson for consideration of my membership to Sigma Theta Tau International. I understand this invitation may be revoked between now and induction or thereafter if I am found guilty of a breach in academic integrity or other behaviors/actions inconsistent with the principles of the society.
